Mathematical Investigation

Pick A Place

Te Kauri School was deciding what place they should go to for camp; Mount Albury, Lake Waihonu, or Marama Island. They have done a tally chart for third, second or first choices that the school picked but when they added up the total votes it came up all the same. So then they decided to roll a dice and see what number comes up the most. Each number had a place; Mount Albury had the numbers 1 and 6, Lake Waihonu had the numbers 2 and 5, and Marama Island had the rest of the numbers 3 and 5.
I carried out my own investigation. I used the same informations that the students of Te Kauri School. With the information they had I could start to progress on my investigation but the fact that the students did not say how much times they would roll the dice I had to find that out myself. I decided to roll the dice 4 times because if each camp place number comes out once each time the fourth roll would decided the finale answer and camp place that te Kauri School will go to. With the information I gathered up I was able to put it in a chart as shown.........
