Bike Riding with Nan

Having a fun bike ride!

During the Christmas holidays, my Nan and I biked down to Mission Bay and when we got down there we biked around some more. When we were riding around we saw some interesting cars like a Nissan GTR R35 and you don't find those everywhere, it also sounded cool.

After that we biked around some more, I also got to play at the park and in the sand. We saw a Pizza shop so we decided to buy some Pizza plus a Coke. When they were done making the Pizza we took it a nice sitting area on the grass and we ate the Pizza there. It was disgusting so we threw it away.

Once we were finished putting the rubbish Pizza in the bin I finished my Coke and we made our way back to the Pizza place to get our money back.

After that we went home. On the way there we  saw even more interesting cars and they also sounded cool. I got tired going home because I had to bike up a hill. But it was a fun day except for eating that rubbish Pizza.

A birds business landed on my hand!

One day My cousin and I went on a bike ride down to the playground. It took a little while for me because I didn't have any gears but my cousin did. Once we got there I was all hot and sticky because of having my helmet on, and the sweltering heat didn't help much either.

When we got there me and Richard looked at each other and then we gunned it down to the swings      ( our favourite part of a playground ). It was so much fun, I love the momentum of swings and also the soft cool air rushing past your face.

We then made it back to our bikes and decided to go all the way around the rugby pitch but by the time we got half way we were both panting and exhausted so we stopped at a water fountain to get a drink and then decided to go back home. On the way back a bird poop landed on my hand. I was horrified and Richard and I had a good laugh before our bike ride ended.

Ash Wednesday and Lent!

Lent
Lent is a time of 40 days which is a time for  prayer and fasting.
Fasting can be not only be eating less but giving up valuable things you treasure. Lent is one of the special events of the Liturgical Year. The 40 days represent Jesus praying in the desert.
The colour purple represents Lent.

Ash Wednesday
Ash wednesday is the beginning of Lent. The ashes come from the leaves of the palm  tree which were used to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem. During Ash Wednesday, the priest puts his thumb in the ashes and marks a cross with the ashes on our foreheads. During Ash Wednesday, Father pours oil in the ashes, then the holy water and then blesses it with the scents of smoke.

Literacy Inference

This Boy Definitely Doesn't Like Vegetables 😡

Literacy Inference
How is the boy feeling?
The boy is feeling unsatisfied because of the way his face is looking. It is based on his appearance that I have noticed that the boy does not enjoy eating vegetables for dinner. It also shows through his body language by the way he is showing his posture and putting his hand on his face which indicates his emotions about what is on the plate in front of him.

Riding my bike

Learning.Intention:We are learning to write a recount about me riding a bike

It was Wednesday and I decided to ride my bike.

I went to the garage and got my black bike. Before I rode my bike I cleaned the wheels until it was shiny, I also made sure it was safe. Then I cleaned the body and the ringer of the bike.

Next I carried the bike outside the house and rode around my neighbourhood on the footpath. Then I went to the Glen Innes Sacred heart College and met my brother at the main gate.He  came on my bike and we went to Pt England school. We took turns riding the bike.

Before we went home we visited the ocean near pt England and saw the beautiful view. Then we went home.

I had so much fun riding my bike.

Holiday Recount - Rhonda

Holiday Recount!

It was the 29th of January when I awoke from my sleep and got out of my bed. Slowly (as I was not really awake) I  walked to the living room.   I heard my parents and older siblings blabbing about going to the beach. I got so excited when I heard the news because it was a very hot and sunny day.

We all decided to go early because we wanted to see the view of the clouds and the water moving as it hit the shore. The level of the sea was going to be King tide which meant that the tide is going to  come very close to the shore and the water was going to be very deep.

My sisters decided that it would be even extra  fun,  if my cousins came along with us,  so they did.

As some hours passed by, the tide was finally in and it was time for us to dip into the water. It felt very cold and it was also very deep. As I swam to the deeper parts, the water was rising up to my neck, this meant that I had to go back to a less deeper part of the water or I might drown.

It got a bit boring, so my cousins and I decided to teach my younger sisters Liena and Fe’ao how to float on their backs. This took a couple of tries for them to learn how to float, so they tried and tried until they knew how to float on their backs.

We swam until it became darker and darker. We had to hop out of the water and walk back to shore, because we had to pack our things to go back home. This was one of the best holiday family time,  I have ever had. Hopefully next time my cousins would come again to have fun with us at the beach.

Books can be an extremely great resource for learning!

Books can be an extremely great resource for learning!

Books are filled with many different things such as comics, stories/diaries of someone, learning resources and much more. Without books, the knowledge of mainly children in schools wouldn't increase. Personally, I believe and prefer to use books - hard copy material, verses the internet.

Most books are non-fiction meaning that the contents of the book include things that are real. These might include information about the fossils of dinosaurs and a diary or adventures of a famous person. Non-fiction books can inspire the audience through many ways such as the courageous achievements of someone or the stories of someone's hardships in their past.

Fiction books are another type of books aside the non-fiction ones. The ideas within these books are all within the author's imagination and creativity. Usually these books are able to increase the imagination of the readers but, they can also make them feel as if they were present in the story. While reading, the readers are also able to imitate or mimic the feelings of a character. Examples of fiction books are comics or mangas, which originated in Japan and is more commonly known as 'anime'.

There is also another type of book which is mainly for learning. School journals are one of the main books that relate to learning. The school journals might include fiction and non-fiction stories, articles or poems but these can vary depending on the author's creativeness and ideas. The main focus of school journals are to help children increase their knowledge through finding the true meaning of the text or increasing the vocabulary by introducing them to new sophisticated words.

Even though today, the number of book-worms have decreased drastically due to the power of technology,  there are still some people who enjoy using their spare time to read a book for either learning purposes or to make them laugh. Without books, the knowledge of the world would be extremely small and people would have to physically perform the activity in order to learn. This means that books make life and learning easier for children and adults in various unique ways.
