On Easter Weekend my family went to the Easter show at the ASB showgrounds. When we arrived, we paid for parking and then paid again to enter the show itself. Fortunately, we had some free tickets that covered the entry cost for my siblings and myself.
Our first stop was the animal farm. The animals were housed in a huge building that had a entrance that allowed people to exit into a barn yard. Here we saw pigs, ducks, cows, sheep, goats, and also some small, fluffy, yellow ducklings. We also had the opportunity to pat and feed the animals. One of the sheep followed my little brother Lasike. He got scared and jumped on my back and started screaming like a little girl. Both my dad and my sister Lupe, started laughing and taking pictures. Click, click, click went the camera. I felt the eyes of all the people around staring at me! My temperature rose and I could feel my face turning red, I was so embarrassed. I was so relieved when we left the barn yard and Lasike finally jumped off my back and ran towards carnival rides.
We each had 5 tokens to use on the rides of our choice. We lined up for our turn on the huge slide. Each person had to sit on a red sack to go down the slide to prevent friction burns. When I was going down the slide, it was as if I was falling forward - it was a long way down.
Following the rides we decided to have lunch and a little break. Fifteen minutes later I took my brother to the flying fox. Each person using the flying fox, had to put on safety gear and listen carefully to the instructions to make sure no one was hurt. I waited and watched at the finishing point for my brother. I heard him before I saw him, his high pitched squeal made me shiver.
It was a great day and a wonderful way to spend time together as a family.
