Math - important or not - What's your opinion?

We are learning to write a persuasive argument.
Our teacher asked our opinion about whether or not we thought mathematics was important.
This is my response.

Maths is important because everybody uses maths in their daily lives, like for working out how much money the have. It is not a waste of time because if we didn't have maths, the cashiers in shops would give people the wrong amount of change and people would be getting ripped off. If we stop using maths, this generation will stop using their brains. And if technology fails, people will need to start using their brains but they will be unable to because their brains have stopped remembering how to do maths.
