Marshmellow Challenge

Marshmallow Challenge                                                                              Vine.

In Room 8, we have been doing a challenge. The challenge we were doing was whoever could make the tallest structure by using 20 raw spaghetti, 1 string, 1 masking tape, and a marshmallow. We only had 10 minutes on the timer.

The Challenge was to try and make the highest tower out of spaghetti sticks and place the marshmallow on top no where else but on top of your group tower.

There were 5 groups. Then when the timer start everyone in each group were in a rush. A lot of our towers kept on falling and falling but luckily, my group and some other groups had made theirs stand a bit longer. Then the timer rang. We all stopped what we were doing.

Some of the groups failed. My group tower had collapsed. The last groups tower standing was Soana’s group. They  won and that meant they were rewarded a marshmallow.  However we  all of us received a marshmallow for working hard on our towers.  It was a fun challenge.

Clowns

Clowns

There was this grown girl called Skyler. She was very scared of clowns. Every time she sees one, she starts to cry and she sometimes panics. One day she moved to a brand new house. Inside it, she saw red blood on the floor. It was dry but easy to see. She didn't care because she thought it was just red paint.

After a few months, it was her time for bed then suddenly she heard a laugh. She thought it was just a person laughing at a video walking past her house but it wasn't. She went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. A horrible scary clown just appeared in the mirror. The clown was laughing and was holding a knife on his hand. The clown she saw had a big smile on his face, blood running down his face, sharp teeth and one of his eyes was just white and the other eye was red. She dropped everything she was holding and screamed loud as she could but no one couldn't hear her. The clown disappeared. She rushed to her bedroom and locked the door immediately. She tried to sleep.

No one else lived near her house. All you could see was just a road, bushes across the road and a mansion. The mansion was on her left but you wouldn't be able to see it clearly because it was a far distance. Not much cars pass by her house.

Next morning she went to get her newspaper and a newsletter, she first opened the newsletter. She saw her family photo. All those people in the photo was circled on their faces except her. She read how they died. Then she finally saw the word ‘clown’. She was frightened. Then she opened up the newspaper. She saw a big writing on it made of blood. The message said “YOU ARE NEXT”. She was shaking. When she was young, she thought that clowns never exist but now she believes that clowns now exist in that year.

Digital Learning

              Digital Learning
With chrome books / netbooks we can develop our learning,We can search things that  we don’t know,We can do educational games, write faster, and you can continue your learning OUTSIDE of school!

Having netbooks may be fun but, you must take good care of your device. You have to make sure that you hold it with both of your hands, because if you don’t you might drop it and it could get a broken screen. This is expensive to get fixed.

Doing maths is...FUN. I’m not one of those kids who hates math. Doing math is fun but playing math?
.... Are you kidding me? That is totally fun!

If you take your netbook home, you must use it  for studying  not playing games or things that’s not educational you should stop doing that and study because studying is fun and you should be thankful because you are educated.

You can do things easier through working on a netbook. In my class, we do writing, spelling and maths on the netbook. We can even draw on the computer and the drawings are really good too.

Doing writing, spelling and reading in books is a bit slower but typing everything down is faster.

Developing your writing skills,You can write like an expert on chromebooks and like I said you can write faster! You don’t have to worry about things that you don’t know because you can just search it. Research or finding out about things you don’t know using the Internet is fast and you can look for lots of information and pictures that link to your learning.

Using netbooks for learning is neat.

All children should have to wear a school uniform.

In this essay I will be explaining why children should and shouldn’t wear a uniform to school.

One reason is that it represents your school. If you do a good thing or if you respect, someone they’ll know that your school is a good school and more students go there. For example, you see a child lost and you help him/her. His/her parents see your uniform and send them to your school because they know that you’re a good school. More people will recognise your school and will respect you for your school if they know which school you’re from.

My other reason is that people know which school you go to. If you have a friend and you want to go to the same school they’re going, you can look at their uniform and tell your parents. For example, person A wants to go to person B’s school but they don’t know which school they’re at. Person A looks at the uniform and tells his/her parents.

These next paragraphs will explain why I think children shouldn’t wear school uniforms.

My first reason is that it might be expensive. From what I know, the Selwyn colleges full uniform for boys (including winter and P.E), it costs over $600. For example you want to go to a school you like but the uniform costs too much money and you have to go to a cheaper school. It is not worth paying a lot of money just to buy a school uniform.

My final reason is that there are too many things to wash. If you buy a lot of uniforms, it will take too much time and money to wash. For example, all of your uniforms are dirty and you take a lot of time washing each pair and waste a lot of water and a lot of time drying.

This concludes my essay. I think that children should wear school uniforms because it represents the school and more people go to school if it’s good.

A fantastic experience

  • who         what         where                                     when
family                circus       parking of asb stadium       saturday
me
cousins

On Friday 4th of July, the last day of term 2 my family, cousins and me went to a circus just outside on the carpark near the ASB stadium.  It was around 6.00 that the circus began and the seats were filled. Smoke filled the stage but then the lights went out. People stood in silence thinking there was no power. "there's no power" one shouted. Then just as someone from the crowd was about to talk..."BANG!" The lights turned on and fireworks flew everywhere but didn't hurt anyone.

On the stage there were two men with a suitcase lying on the ground. One was really short and the other was tall. They never talked but it looked like they were trying to lift the suitcase. Both couldn't lift it, so they chose a little girl from the audience to try and lift it. She came to the case and picked it up  as if it were as light as tissue.

Both of them stared at each other amazed then they handed her a 7 inch lolli-pop that magically appeared from out of their pockets. After sending the girl away a girl barged out on stage with a box. Both of the men placed her inside closed the box and stood there (fake) crying. They then pulled out ten swords and stuck all of them into the box one by one until. Sometime after, they opened the box and took her out and she came out unharmed.

The audience were clapping loud and ready. It was the last act and the audience were wanting more. Then unexpectedly lights turned off then on magically. There was a man standing on a tower holding steady. What he was going to do was fearlessly going to get lots of chairs and stack them carefully one by one in top of each other.  After building this tower, he then climbed to the top and stood there. The way he was risking his life was bloodcurdling. My cousin counted a total of 28 chairs each being approximately 1 metre in height. One by one His stacking continued until he  amazingly stood on 30 chairs.

Their he was standing in the air until suddenly his grip went wobbling, the audience screaming, shouting, covering their mouths watching in fear, his feet had nothing to stand on and he fell like a drop of rain. He was falling fast but the distance of him and the ground gave the other clowns enough time to run out and catch him. The crowd stood with silence then gave a big clap. The clowns took a bow waved and walked to the backstage.

It was a good night. I was tired so I went to bed.
